Sponge Iron
Sponge
Iron is used as a raw material for making steel in
electric arc furnaces and induction furnaces, substituting
and supplementing indigenous and imported scrap. As
a key raw material for the manufacture of steel, Sponge
Iron has got a strong foothold in the Indian market.
With the reliance on sponge iron getting more pronounced
with time, global market trends predict a steady upward
movement too. Maheshwary Ispat plans to continue its
focus on Sponge Iron at present and also in future
to utilize its production for in-house manufacture
of steel.
Billets
Steel billets
are semi-finished products used for further processing
for production of suitable products. It is used as
a feedstock to rolling mills for production of long
products like wire rods, bars/ rods and light structural.
Billet is also used extensively in forge shops and
machine shops for production of engineering goods
and also as feedstock for seamless tubes.
Compared
to the developed countries the world over, there is
substantial potential for an increase in the consumption
of steel in India, due to low steel consumption ratio
and benefits of steel (Long products), such as superior
quality and durability. As steel billets are used
to manufacture long products such as wire rods, their
demand is also expected to show a significant increase
in the years to follow.
Maheshwary
Ispat produces high quality mild steel billets through
the continuous-casting route ensuring high quality
standards. With the onset of production through the
EAF route, we will start the production of export-quality
steel billets which has tremendous potential and enjoys
greater demand.
